Dance School allegedly loses thousands of dollars after dance instructor violates contract.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sandra Lynn’s School of Dance Files Lawsuit against Former Dance Instructor
Sandra Lynn’s School of Dance helps students of all ages and instructors become the best dancers that they can be. In 2014, the school of dance hired Meagan as a part time instructor. Upon accepting the position, Meagan signed an employment agreement with non-compete and non-solicitation obligations, which included that Meagan would not teach dance within a 25 mile radius of the school for three years at the end of her employment.
As an instructor, Meagan was an integral part of the school, helping to develop the nurturing environment of the dance community. She became familiar and friendly with many of the clients of Sandra Lynn’s School of Dance. In 2017, after Meagan left her position with the school of dance, she allegedly solicited fourteen students of her former employer. This is a blatant violation of the employment agreement that she had signed.
The loss of Meagan as well as the solicited students caused Sandra Lynn’s School of Dance to lose $61,634 per year, not counting future revenue after the employment agreement ends in 2020. Meanwhile, Meagan accepted a position teaching at Legend Athletics, which is 8.5 miles away from Sandra Lynn’s School of Dance. This also breaks the employment agreement between Meagan and the school of dance. KM&A strives to uphold the law and challenges people like Meagan who violate employment contracts.
